Kazang is also an exciting new business opportunity. It is a packaged business solution that relies on wireless communication (GPRS) for the electronic delivery of services to the consumer and comprises:
- Licensed technology developed by Psitek – the Content Ready platform - a web application to manage content, transactions, deposits, fund allocation, as well as offering the ability to generate and view specific reports
- Content, procured and stored centrally by Psitek and sold through a range of content and data terminals (vending devices) over a secure GPRS connection
- Fixed and portable content and data terminals that can be set up in both formal and informal locations making it possible to reach market segments that were previously difficult to access.
- Marketing material for the Vendors to assist them in advertising the Kazang services they offer
- Technical support to the Super Dealers to ensure that their business runs smoothly.
Kazang’s introductory service offering is airtime vouchers. Going forward, Psitek intends to offer an array of content and data services, such as electricity, financial and insurance services.
The success of the Kazang model relies on a high level of commitment from both Psitek and the Super Dealer. The following summarises some of the fundamental responsibilities for both parties.
Psitek’s role
- Supply a vending solution that is quick to implement and simplifies the management of the vending devices in the field.
- The maintenance and technical support of Kazang vending devices subject to terms and conditions, as agreed with the Kazang Super Dealer.
- The procurement and distribution of Kazang content and data services via Psitek’s Content Ready platform.
- Training for Super Dealers on the Kazang business solution, including device management, accessing information and reports through the Content Ready website, second tier support and some troubleshooting.
- Hosting and maintenance of the Content Ready platform.
- Extend the range of Kazang content and data services on a regular basis and make them available to the Super Dealers for roll out to the Kazang devices.
Kazang Super Dealer’s role
- Commit to an initial order of 50 vending devices.
- Independently of Psitek obtain, data-enabled SIM cards and manage the installation of the SIM cards on the Kazang vending devices.
- Ensure they have a PC, with Internet connection and a web browser (either Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox) so that they can access the Content Ready website and carry out the administration functions necessary to operate the Kazang business.
- Register information about the Kazang vending devices and create and manage their own Vendor groups on the Content Ready website.
- Train their Vendors on operating the devices as well as running the Kazang business effectively so that they can meet the required activity thresholds.
- Train the Vendors on how to deposit funds (for the purchase of e.g. airtime) directly into Psitek’s bank account, as per Psitek’s automated banking solution. Each device needs a positive deposit balance in its wallet against which to transact.
- Assist Vendors purchase vending devices and manage the cash flow process.
- Manage the revenue margin allocation to their Vendors, ensuring the correct amount is transferred to the Vendor’s device wallet.
- Provide first line field support to the Vendors including administration of devices that need repairs.
- Manage the administrative and legal processes with Psitek.
- Ensure that the Kazang Vendors make appropriate use of the Kazang marketing material supplied by Psitek.
- Manage the performance of all the devices in their base.
